Golden Eagle Status
Active
The Golden Eagle is protected by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (USFWS) under the Bald and Golden Eagle Protection Act and the Migratory Bird Treaty Act (MBTA). In 2008 and 2009, the USFWS is planning for incidental take of Golden Eagles under the MBTA. Many years of work have established a background of species status and have identified knowledge gaps. This project contributes support for tracking Golden Eagle status as the incidental take terms are implemented and monitored. The objectives of this project are to review literature for status and biology of the Golden Eagle, and to correspond with federal, state, Native American, and non-government biologists to solicit information about Golden Eagle population biology and status of the species.
