Study Description

Title:
ARMI: Amphibian Research Monitoring Initiative (Pacific Northwest Region)

Status: Active

Synopsis:
Amphibians have been declining in many parts of the world including the western U.S. Despite much interest in the issue for the past decade, the status and trends of amphibians on Department of the Interior lands in the Pacific Northwest remains unknown. Several factors have been hypothesized to cause declines, but research is needed to understand the nature of threats to amphibians and how these threats pertain to other animals. This task focuses on establishing long-term amphibian monitoring, investigating potential amphibian population stressors, and determining the current status of amphibians relative to historic distributions in Washington, Oregon, Nevada, Idaho, and Utah.
