Why was the data set created?

Data were collected to determine if contaminant concentration had changed from an earlier sampling period (early 1980s and early 1990s)

How was the data set created?

  1. What methods were used to collect the data?

    Method 0 of 1
    Type: Field

Eggs were collected from nests which were marked for"id". Nests were observed at weekly intervals to determine the number of young produced at each nest. Eggs collected were analyzed for a series of contaminants.

    Reference:

  2. From what previous works were the data drawn?

  3. How were the data generated, processed, and modified?

Date: Unknown (process 1 of 1)
Orginal data collection, no process steps

  4. What similar or related data should the user be aware of?

How reliable are the data; what problems remain in the data set?

  1. How well have the observations been checked?

No tests for attribute accuracy were conducted

  2. How accurate are the geographic locations?

  3. How accurate are the heights or depths?

  4. Where are the gaps in the data? What is missing?

Entire colony was observed for night-herons and great egrets. For stilts and avocets a sample of nests was monitored at the same locations studied in earlier years.

  5. How consistent are the relationships among the observations, including topology?

Laboratory QA/QC information is available from data originator
