Abstract:
This data set is an ArcInfo point feature layer of shorebird nest sites found at Summer Lake, Oregon in 1995. Data are in the UTM coordinate system, Zone 10 (datum wgs84).
Purpose:
The goal of this project is to examine wetland viability and connectivity in the western Great Basin using a large-scale, landscape-level approach. This study documents the breeding and post-breeding phenology of use of the area by shorebirds, as well as the regional dispersal and movements of individuals among the most prominent wetland sites of eastern Oregon, northern California and Nevada. Our work focuses on three species of shorebird: American avocet (Recurvirostra americana), willet (Cataptrophorus semipalmatus), and killdeer (Charadrius vociferus).
