Title:
Isolated Headwater Populations of Potamodromous Cutthroat Trout in Western Oregon - 1999 Survey
Geospatial_Data_Presentation_Form: vector digital data
Description:
Abstract:
This data set is an ArcInfo line coverage representing the locations of stream surveys for habitat of isolated coastal cutthroat trout in selected headwater basins. The study sites are in the Coast and Cascade Ranges of western Oregon. Data are in the UTM coordinate system (zone 10) and NAD27.
Purpose:
These data were collected to explore the effects of stream habitat and watershed characteristics on the distribution and abundance of coastal cutthroat trout across western Oregon.

Data_Quality_Information:
Attribute_Accuracy:
Attribute_Accuracy_Report:
Stream network data were carefully compared with field maps and USGS Digital Raster Graphics. Once dynamic segmentation was completed on the stream network, the ratio of measured stream survey distance to arc length was calculated. Stream segments with ratios that fell outside an acceptable range (1.3 -0.7) were examined for data errors and the routes adjusted.
Logical_Consistency_Report:
This data set is a routed ArcInfo line coverage built for line topology. Stream routes were calibrated to known survey locations and attributes attached through the process of dynamic segmentation based on survey distance.
Completeness_Report:
Streams for sampling were selected randomly from the stratified population of headwater basins described in "Western Oregon Coastal Cutthroat Trout Headwater Basins" (see cross reference). Only "3rd-order" headwater basins were considered. Within each study area only the portion of the stream network that was surveyed was processed for inclusion in this data set.
Positional_Accuracy:
Horizontal_Positional_Accuracy:
Horizontal_Positional_Accuracy_Report:
Sources of stream line work are assumed to meet national map accuracy standards. No additional test for positional accuracy were performed.
