Title:
Analysis Subbasins for Coastal Cutthroat Trout Distribution Study in Western Oregon 1999
Geospatial_Data_Presentation_Form: vector digital data
Description:
Abstract:
This data set is an ArcInfo polygon coverage depicting analysis subbasins for a Coastal Cutthroat Trout distribution study in Western Oregon. Subbasins were delineated within each of five study basins with the use of ArcInfo hydrologic modeling tools and hand-edits.
Purpose:
Analysis basins were designed to serve as templates in a series of grid analyses performed on exisiting GIS layers. The resulting watershed "profiles" will be used to investigate relationships between Coastal Cutthroat Trout distribution and habitat on a landscape-wide scale.
Supplemental_Information:
To facilitate processing, subbasins were delineated one study basin at a time, resulting in five separate coverages. The final coverages were then appended together to produce this data set.

Title: Western Oregon Coastal Cutthroat Trout Headwater Basins
Geospatial_Data_Presentation_Form: Map

Data_Quality_Information:
Attribute_Accuracy:
Attribute_Accuracy_Report:
polygons were labeled with item BASIN_CODE in ArcView and checked for completeness; BASIN_CODE values were compared to stream segment numbers in the same view to verify accuracy.
Logical_Consistency_Report:
coverage was built for polygon topology in ArcInfo using BUILD or CLEAN; label errors were checked using LABELERRORS
Completeness_Report:
Within a given study basin, analysis basins were delineated to (1) each routed (surveyed) stream segment and (2) non-surveyed drainages larger than 40 ha. All study basins are headwater watersheds supporting isolated populations of Coastal Cutthroat Trout. Study basins were randomly selected from a larger pool of computer-generated basins representing three ecoregions (Cascade, Klamath, Coast Range) and two erosion potentials (igneous/sedimentary origin).

final polygon boundaries were adjusted with the aid of USGS DRGs; no positional accuracy was assessed

Line work for study streams was developed from various sources and prepared using the ArcInfo dynamic segmentation process to attach fish habitat survey data to the line work. Stream segments as delineated in this data layer were used as the basis for sub-basin "pour points".
